ELMIRA, N.Y. (WHCU) — An Elmira wedding photographer is appealing a court decision, which recently dismissed her lawsuit over New York’s anti-discrimination law.

WENY-TV reports Emilee Carpenter filed a lawsuit last summer against Chemung County District Attorney Weeden Wetmore and New York Attorney General Letitia James claiming her religious beliefs opposing same-sex marriage are being violated by state law. Carpenter refused to photograph same-sex marriages. Her lawsuit was dismissed last month.

Attorneys representing Carpenter say laws in New York mean she could be prosecuted for her personal beliefs.
