PENRITH couple Anna Courtney and Karl Peacock had a relaxed, Bohemian-themed wedding at Hidden River Cabins, near Longtown this month.

Anna works as a hair stylist and Karl is an electrician.

The couple originally met at school in 2008. “Little did we know we would be married many years later,” said Anna.

Karl proposed to Anna in Vilamoura in Portugal in 2018 on the beach.

Anna wore a Tate gown designed by The Lovers Society with a Ruedesein veil and bespoke dried flower crown created by Folky Dokey. Her hair was done by Roxanne Coutts of Elaine Swann’s, Penrith and Leah Nelson of Beautique, and Claire Hall, Chiara’s, both Penrith, did the bridesmaids’ hair.

Lee Blenkinsopp was Karl’s best man and Darren Campbell, Chris Wilson, Simon Brown, Liam Brown and Lee Hindson were ushers. The couple’s son Oxley Peacock, Joey Hindson and Alfie Quail were page boys. Suits were from Skopes in pale blue with a mulberry stripe complemented with floral ties.

Lianne Lydon was maid of honour and Shannon Burton, Vicky Lydon, George Crowe, Donna Taylor, Sarah Forster, Mackenzie Quail, Jody Little and Robyn Baglee, all best friends of the bride, were bridesmaids. Karl and Anna’s daughter Thea Peacock and Lola Kaye Brooke Beatham were flower girls.

The bridesmaids all wore different styles of dress in mulberry from the Eden Wedding Boutique, Penrith. “Keeley at the Wedding Boutique could not have been more helpful,” said Anna.

She added: “Our wonderful flowers were done by the amazing Lisa Ellwood using the mulberry colour from the bridesmaids’ dresses and blush pink flowers.”

Alba Travel provided transport for the guests and Damien Quail from A1 Acclaim Taxis transported guests on site.

The wedding was attended by 112 days guests when and Greek platters were served at large banquet tables. Around 140 guests enjoyed the evening reception.

Favours were candles made by Q Kaye which were also used as name settings.

The wedding cake was a three-tiered, semi-naked cake by Alison Fawkes decorated with flowers to match the wedding flowers.

The couple’s first dance was Drops of Jupiter by Boyce Avenue, the first song Karl learned on his guitar, so always a favourite.

Weddings guests were given a surprise when the waiters burst into song. “It was a super way to get the party started,” said Anna. The singing waiters were followed by a sax player to get everyone on the dance floor. The couple also had a wedding host/DJ Simon Vogt who was fabulous and made the day run smoothly.

Anna and Karl had a short break away to the Lakes Hotel and Spa and are planning a holiday with the children later in the year.

The wedding day was captured by photographer Peter Ostrowski of Penrith. “He’s just amazing,” said Anna.
