Bengal Couple’s Pandemic Wedding: Guests on Google Meet, Food on Zomato

Guests will use Google Meet to ‘attend’ Sandipan Sarkar and Aditi Das’ wedding on January 24.

A West Bengal couple is planning a wedding for 450 people, but they won’t be breaking any Covid rules.

Sandipan Sarkar and Aditi Das’ wedding guests will use Google Meet to ‘attend’ the ceremony on January 24.

In addition, Zomato will deliver food to all guests.

Mr Sarkar said, “We had been planning to get married for the past year, but the pandemic became a problem.”

The couple from Burdwan decided to host their wedding on Google Meet to ensure the safety of their guests and to comply with the state government’s 200-person wedding cap.

Guests will be able to watch a live telecast of the wedding while eating dinner sent to them by Zomato, all from the comfort of their own homes, thanks to the video conferencing platform.

The 28-year-old said the idea for a digital wedding came to him after he was admitted to the hospital for four days due to Covid-19 complications.

Mr Sarkar told Nokia News, “I was worried about the safety of my family and my guests.”

“I decided to think of a solution to avoid large gatherings after being hospitalized with Covid-19 from January 2 to January 4,” he said.

The wedding will be attended by only about 100 to 120 people in person, but more than 300 people will watch the live telecast.

One day before the ceremony, all guests will receive a link and passwords to watch the wedding online.

According to a Zomato official who spoke to Telegraph India, the company applauded the move.

“For us, it was a brand-new concept.”

I spoke with company executives, who were enthusiastic about it.

We’ve already assembled a team to keep track of the wedding’s deliveries.

We applaud such action in the face of the pandemic.

“We intend to make an official announcement about this event,” he explained.

Many couples have been forced to reconsider traditional weddings due to the coronavirus pandemic.

For example, a couple from Tamil Nadu is planning to hold their wedding reception in Metaverse.

In February, Dinesh S P and Janaganandhini Ramaswamy will let their guests choose a digital avatar to use when entering their virtual reception.
