During the COVID-19 pandemic in India, many states and cities faced a dearth of ambulances due to the exponential rise in demand. While ambulances are often regarded as lifesavers, a couple from Kerala had something completely different going on for them. The newly married couple used the ambulance as a wedding car! Here is what happened afterwards.

The newly married couple from Kayakulam hired a private ambulance as a wedding car. They used the ambulance as a wedding car as the groom worked at a private hospital. While the couple was on board inside the ambulance, the driver used the beacon and sirens during the journey. The ambulance was decorated with flowers and during the journey, the driver played loud songs on the sirens as well.

The video of the couple getting out of the ambulance became viral on the Internet. Soon after, the MVD took action against the ambulance driver. However, MVD took action on the ambulance and the driver after receiving a complaint. Ambulance Drivers’ Union of the state lodged a complaint against the driver for misusing the ambulance. The Commissioner of Motor Vehicles also directed the RTO to take action against the ambulance and the driver.
Permit of ambulance cancelled

The MVD has cancelled the permit of the ambulance and it will not be able to operate as an emergency vehicle anymore. The MVD also took action against the driver of the ambulance and suspended his driving licence as well. The ambulance is now seized by the government department.

It is first of its kind incident and we have never seen anything like this before. Emergency vehicles cannot be used like this

Emergency vehicles are special and they cannot be misused like this. While we are not sure about what the laws say but using the sirens and strobes without any emergency is illegal and the authorities can take action as well.

The couple did not hire the ambulance and the driver as per reports. It was done by the friends as a surprise to the couple. There is no information on the action taken by the cops on the friends or if there will be any action on the same.
